Information on the China visa application in Austria:

Documents are submitted from Monday - Friday, from 09:00.

Applicants in the following categories are exempt from submitting fingerprints for visas with single and double entry until further notice (as of 10.8.2023). This regulation is initially valid until 31.12.2024.

  • Business visa (M)
  • Tourist visa (L)
  • CREW visa (C)
  • Short-term family visit (Q2)
  • Transit (G)
  • Applicants who apply for a visa in a different category or for multiple entries are still required to appear in person at the consular provider to give their fingerprints, provided that this has not been done in the past (since 9.12.1019) with the same passport at a Chinese Visa Application Center. Fingerprints remain stored for 5 years for a passport, provided it is valid for this period.

PLEASE NOTE: In order to obtain a multiple-entry visa, the traveler must present at least one copy of a Chinese pre-entry visa that has been used twice, i.e. with which he/she has entered China twice. Only then will a multiple-entry visa valid for 6 months be issued. If a 6-month multiple-entry visa has been used at least three times, a 12-month multiple-entry visa can be issued. Please note that the decision on issuing the visa (frequency of entry, duration of stay,...) is the responsibility of the consulate

    .

    IMPORTANT:

Until December 31, 2025, nationals of Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Belgium, Luxembourg, the French Republic, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Italian Republic, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Kingdom of Spain and Malaysia who hold a valid ordinary passport may enter without a visa if the purpose of the trip is: business, tourism, visiting family or friends and transit. The stay in the People's Republic of China must not exceed 15 days (day of entry and exit are counted)

It is also expressly pointed out that the visa requirement remains for nationals of the above-mentioned countries if their travel purposes go beyond those mentioned above, their stay lasts longer than 15 days and if they (nationals of Malaysia are excluded in this case) have a service passport.

Since the introduction of the new visa application, all required documents must be uploaded when the visa application is created. These are then checked by the embassy. The documents may only be submitted to the consular provider once a positive decision/mail has been received from the embassy.

  • Have the visa application filled out by the ÖVKG:
  • Preliminary checks can only be carried out by ÖVKG if the visa application is prepared by ÖVKG. Only in this way is it possible for us to check all documents and information for correctness and completeness. After we have provided you with the visa application for signature, you can send the original documents to ÖVKG or use our pick-up service for a fee. As soon as we have received the OK from the embassy, we will submit the documents for you, collect the completed visa and send the passport to the address of your choice.

  • Fill out the visa application yourself:
  • If you are filling out the visa application yourself on the Chinese embassy's website, please upload all the required documents to their website yourself. The documents will then be checked by the Chinese embassy. Please do not send the original documents to the ÖVKG until you have received a positive response/notification from the Chinese embassy. Only then may the documents be submitted to the Chinese consular provider. Please send us the confirmation either with the original documents or upload them on your behalf. In this case, the ÖVKG can only check your documents for completeness, but not for correctness. Please note that the check by the embassy can currently take 2-3 days. You should therefore expect longer lead times.
