Ways to apply for an India visa
There are currently two ways to apply for a visa for India:

The electronic India visa (eVisa) can be applied for numerous nationalities and allows multiple entries within one year.
Prerequisites:
Entry via one of the border crossings
authorized by the Indian authoritiesExit can be made from any authorized border crossing
Authorized border crossings in India:
Airports: Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bagdogra, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Calicut, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Delhi, Gaya, Goa (Dabolim & Mopa), Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kannur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Port Blair*, Pune, Surat, Tiruchirapalli, Trivandrum, Varanasi, Vishakhapatnam
(*Approval for restricted areas/sanctuaries is required on arrival at Port Blair airport)
Seaports: Chennai, Cochin, Goa, Mangalore, Mumbai, Port Blair
Processing time: approx. 3 days (excluding public holidays)

The India visa in passport is valid for all border crossings and allows multiple entries within one year.
Processing time: approx. 1 week (excluding public holidays)
This visa is ideal for business travelers, long-term stays or nationals who are not eligible for an e-Visa.

Since 01.10.2025, it is mandatory for all travelers to apply for an eArrival Card every time they enter India.
.Important: Registration can be done at the earliest 3 days (72 hours) before entry.
The ÖVKG will take care of the complete registration and application for the eArrival Card for you so that you can enter the country stress-free.

2) Log in: Click on the URL www.oevkg.at and log in with your e-mail address and password.
If you already have a customer number with ÖVKG (e.g. corporate customers or travel agencies), please enter this in the "Customer number" field.
