Do you need a visa or arrival card for your upcoming trip to India?
The experts at the Austrian Visa and Consular Society (ÖVKG) will be happy to guide you through the India visa/arrival card application process.
There are currently two ways to apply for a visa for India:
The electronic visa can be applied for numerous nationalities for a multiple entry, valid for 1 year. The prerequisite for this is that you enter via a specific border crossing published by the Indian authorities. These are:
Airports: Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bagdogra, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Calicut, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Delhi, Gaya, Goa (Dabolim), Goa(Mopa), Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kannur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Portblair, Pune, Surat, Tiruchirapalli, Trivandrum, Varanasi and Vishakhapatnam. On arrival at Port Blair Airport, a restricted area/protected area permit is mandatory.
Seaports: Chennai, Cochin, Goa, Mangalore, Mumbai and Port BlairHowever, you can exit from any of the authorized border crossing points in India.
The processing time by the Indian authorities is approximately 3 days (excluding public holidays)The India visa in your passport is valid for all border crossings and entitles you to enter the country several times within one year.
The processing time at the consulate in Vienna is approx. 1 week (excluding public holidays)
Please note: Since 01.10.2025, all travelers are required to apply for an eArrival Card for every entry into India. Registration can be done at least 3 days (72 hours) before each entry.

Customer number: If you have a customer number with ÖVKG (e.g. companies/travel agencies), please enter this in the "Customer number" field.
First steps:
1)Register: Register once with your email address at https://oevkg.at/de/clients/new and confirm your ÖVKG registration email.
2) Log in: Click on the URL www.oevkg.at or copy the link into a browser and log in with the e-mail address and password you provided during registration.
