According to the latest communication, the current 15-day visa-free entry option to the People's Republic of China for nationals until the end of 2025

• of the French Republic,
• the Federal Republic of Germany,
• the Italian Republic,
• the Kingdom of the Netherlands,
• the Kingdom of Spain
• of Malaysia
• of Austria,
• of Switzerland,
• of Ireland,
• from Hungary,
• of Belgium and
• of Luxembourg
• of Poland
• from Australia and
• from New Zealand

from October 15, 2024 (initially until the end of 2025) also for citizens

• of Portugal
• of Greece
• of Cyprus
• of Slovenia

is planned. The exemption from the visa requirement is to be valid exclusively for the following purposes and provisions:

• Tourist - single entry - maximum stay of up to 15 days
• Business - single entry - maximum stay of up to 15 days
• Family visits - single entry - maximum stay of up to 15 days
• Transit

The exemption shall NOT apply for the following purposes:

• A stay of more than 15 days
• Multiple entries
• Holders of Austrian service passports
• All other categories not mentioned above (e.g. work visa, conference visa, etc.)

As of 01.10.2024, it will be mandatory to take out travel insurance for trips to Zanzibar.

This compulsory travel insurance can only be taken out via an application platform provided by the authorities in Zanzibar.Regular travel insurance/supplementary insurance is not permitted.The ÖVKG will be happy to assist you in applying for compulsory insurance.

Dear ladies and gentlemen,

The Chinese Consulate informs you that the Embassy will be closed due to public holidays from 30.9.2024 to 2.10.2024.

In order to further facilitate visa applications, ALL applicants applying for a short-term visa for a single or double entry (stay within 180 days) will be exempt from the obligation to provide fingerprints from now until December 31, 2025. This also applies to crew visas, conference visas (F) and work visas (Z).
