Borders for foreign visitors were reopened on 15.03.2022 and electronic visas for tourism and business purposes will be issued again. An approval number is required to apply for a business visa at the embassy in Vienna.

We would like to inform you that the consular provider fees for visa applications have increased.

Normal processing     64,17€ net / 77,00€ gross 

The consular fees remain unchanged at 35.00&euros; for normal processing and 70.00&euros; for express processing.

The following visa categories can be applied for again since 01.03.2022:

• Short-term visas for professional purposes (assembly or business trip)
• Long-term visas, e.g. for employees posted to Japan

The basic requirement for applying for a visa is an authorization from Japan - this must be submitted online by the Japanese company at https://entry.hco.mhlw.go.jp/. 

Please note that due to the high volume, interview appointments at the US consulate are currently only granted 4-5 weeks after the application has been submitted. We therefore ask you to submit any applications in good time so that there are no delays.
