The British government has unveiled its future immigration policy:

EU citizens currently living and working in the UK and those who come to live and work in the UK before the end of the transitional arrangements in December 2020 will be entitled to permanent resident status. This status must be applied for  

.

Applicants for a work and residence visa will need to provide evidence of an annual salary of a certain amount. No salary limit is specified in the current draft. In previous government plans, a salary limit of 30,000 pounds is noted. Furthermore, the applicant's qualifications will be decisive for the granting of work and residence visas.

Tourists and visitors from the European Union may continue to enter the country without a visa and stay for up to 3 months. After the transition period, an identity card will no longer be sufficient for entry, but a passport will have to be presented.

Visa applications have been submitted to the consular provider Chinese Visa Application Center since 17.12.2018. The consular provider has already informed us today of the following changes, which are effective immediately:

- Signature on the visa application can no longer be signed by proxy but must always be signed by the traveler in original (even if this would theoretically be possible in part 5 of the visa application)- The invitation must now include the name of the traveler AND the passport number

- From now on, a data protection declaration must be enclosed with the documents, which must also be signed by the traveler (a copy of the signature is sufficient here) - this can be found under "Your destination" and "Sample documents"

- A copy of the passport should be enclosed with the documents
