Despite the extension of the lifting of the quarantine exemption until February 18, 2021, there has been an exemption since February 1, 2021.2021, there is an exemption for essential work in South Korea: if a "Quarantine Exemption" is issued by the authorities in South Korea, the quarantine exemption can be confirmed by the embassy in Vienna.

The embassy of South Korea in Vienna has announced the following changes, effective from 08 January 2021:
- a medical certificate is no longer required to apply for a visa,
- a negative PCR test that is not older than 72 hours must be available upon entry
- an Isolation Exemption Certificate can no longer be issued in Europe due to the virus mutation. This regulation is initially valid until 28.01.2021 with the possibility of extension
